James: The youngest of the three Ashton brothers and the lowest ranked duelist of the three of them, being a Slifer Red.
He's very upbeat and light hearted, yet he has trouble understanding the people around him. He's kind of more fascinated by the world than others his age and he can be content with very little in his life. He joined the Academy more for the sake of his family than himself and doesn't take his classes very seriously but that doesn't mean that he doesn't love dueling. He has a good relationship with his brothers, his oldest brother Justin is more patient with him than his second brother Lee who can be frustrated with his careless, absent-mindedness. He sometimes misses being at home with his mother in Japan and being able to see his father who works in America. James is close friends with a fellow student of Slifer, Ash Komatsuzaki, who acts as a crazy sister to him.
